Rompin’ My Way to Sophie’s Place

Hello World,
So last year, my sister wanted to meet up for brunch and drinks to discuss wedding planning (she finally passed into wifey-hood this past May). She was on a mission as she insisted on going to Redondo Beach, California for her favorite place to eat.
It was a Saturday morning, and I was definitely wanting to stay in bed. I was so lazy from work and school. I didn’t want to put on an entire outfit, and decided to use the power of the romper! I find that rompers come in handy for such a time as this.
A few reasons for loving a romper:
  • It looks good for daytime and nighttime (depending on the texture and style).
  • There’s a variety of prints, or solid colors to meet anyone’s desires.
  • It shows off your legs quite nicely.
  • You can add accessories like hats, jackets and jewelry to complete your look.
My #1 (and perhaps only) reason to not like it so much:
  • Going to the restroom, and having to take off all your clothes! Lol!
I hope you like the romper I chose for this day! Tell me what you think? It’s an olive green long sleeve romper with ruffles in all the right places. It works all year-round living in Southern California, and you can pair it off with a cute jean jacket if you find yourself chilly. I have worn this romper for nightlife, and during the daytime.
We headed over to Sophie’s Place at a perfect time! It wasn’t crowded yet, and we were able to get seating outside. The decor was sleek and beautiful. Any signs that light up will always have my heart.

My sister swears they have the best grilled cheese and tomato bisque…. and she is right on the money!
The photo below reflects how we got too excited for our drinks and began enjoying its savory goodness!
My sister decided on a Paris themed wedding, as her partner proposed to her in Paris, France. It took him 3 days to ask her, as he tried to find the right timing. Listening to her talk about him with her googly eyes was cracking me up! I love that they are each other’s first loves. This is such a rare thing in today’s world.
She told me she pretty much bought a lot of random gift boxes on sale because they were Paris themed from Michael’s Crafts Store. I began to have a feeling she was going to not need as much help, and she will want to do a lot of things for herself. (Bridezilla Bridal Parties beware! This could potentially be the first sign for Bridezilla to arise out from her slumber…)
She let me have some input for the bridal shower so I was fine with that. I love rose gold themed parties!
My sister is a pretty private woman, so I do not have any photos of that day with her. She insisted on photos of my romper because she thought it made my body shape sexy. lol! I decided to romp it up and do a few shots.
Beautiful company, yummy food, productive wedding planning = MISSION COMPLETED!
Comment below about your favorite romper styles & colors. I’ll see you next time beauties & beaus.
xoxo, LaTi

Intro Post

Hello World,

It’s LaTianna here, thinking about what to say as an intro post!!

For one thing, this may be the 5th time I have revamped my page within the last 2 and a half years. Let me tell you… it is not a fun thing to do. My thirst for the ‘more’ in life led me up to this point. After years of counseling, dabbling in performance art, and encouraging others to live out their dream life, I realized

This entire time I pursued a degree that required me to help others, because this is all I knew how to do. It’s a great thing to do,  don’t get me wrong because I is still something I will always like to do, but there is another side to me that loves to create. For the past 10 years, I have been combining the two with my certification in Recreation Therapy, with my specialization in Theatre Arts. As I reflect on my 33 years of life, I realize I was not listening to my true self… either that or I was just that ugly duckling that took a long time to realize I was a beautiful swan that was ready to fly. After the many obstacles of heartbreak, depression, wins and loses, I needed to surrender to God and answer the call He has for me. All things work together for good, and my purpose is to pursue my passions to encourage others and help them become inspired by the power of the creative arts. My passions are fashion, theatre, hosting events and theatre workshops.

It was theater classes that led me to heal and to have joy in my life. To have permission to act out what I want spontaneously empowered me. I also teach improv and theatre to all age groups, and I am learning more ways to help others connect their world and discover the strength within them. Creativity did this for me, and this is my gospel to tell.

I never thought something so simple as fashion can be so complex and freeing. It helps me express myself. I am free to wear as I wish. There is sense of empowerment and mental wellness that comes with fashion and sharing it with others. Even though fashion should not be my identity, I dare say it helps me discover new sides to myself. I also get to see the transformation of others and how they like to express fashion. I admire the cultural differences in fashion and I had the honor in traveling to a handful of countries to experience their fashion styles.

I was hoping to keep this first post shorter, but I think I got a bit carried away, LOL!

I will end with listing 10 random facts about me below so you can get to know me a bit more.

I look forward to hearing from you and getting to know you as well. Tell me some fun facts about yourself, and what form of creativity do you carry within yourself. Hope to see you soon!

Much love,

LaTianna in Brooklyn

  1. I grew up mainly in the high desert (Hesperia, CA) and lived with my grandmother. If I wasn’t there, I was living with my mom traveling all over southern and central California. I am used to moving around a lot, and its hard to stay still sometimes.
  2. I knew theatre was my passion as soon as I performed in the Vagina monologues to raise awareness and funds about domestic violence. The power of storytelling overwhelmed me to heal, help others and have a sense of purpose.
  3. I love shoes. I have too many and as soon as I give them away, I fill up my closet with more!
  4. I live in a castle & it’s pretty rad.
  5. I have worked in the mental health field for 10 years in various settings and populations (shelter, school, residential facility, psychiatric hospital, and forensic psychology).
  6. My mom and I look like sisters! LOL black don’t crack!
  7. I am a dance fitness instructor.
  8. I used to be a shy person… not so much now! lol

Family Fashionistas

My Grandma Cookie is such an inspiration to me.  She never considered herself fashionista, but it shows as I see her photos throughout the years.  She has influenced my mother as my mom lives and breathes fashion. She has that retail therapy addiction and she has passed it down to me! Lol! I hope you enjoy these photos. Let me know about your family styles!
