Family life has been a blessing. We played a murder mystery game, and while I couldn’t keep up with all the clues, it was so much fun pretending to be a sorceress!

Friendsgiving this year was unforgettable! I made my guests do a scavenger hunt… while wearing my masks, of course! 😂

🌹 Honoring Ancestors
I visited the grave to send love and gratitude to my grandmother and great-grandmother, reflecting on the strength and love they’ve passed down.

I went to the East Coast for a playback theatre retreat, performed with seasoned actors from across the country, and had so much fun! My inner child, Princess Tiana, came along to help me feel loved and refreshed.

I found my dream car—a Corvette! (Still manifesting this beauty, lol.)

🎥 Joker Night
Kate and I saw Joker… let’s just say, we had mixed feelings. (Slide 3 says it all!)

🤝 Shifting Focus
I connected with fellow therapists at @wellnesssocialofficial. And I received my license in mail. I also made the hard decision to leave my second job as a therapist to focus on health and family.

🎃 Halloween Fun
• Hit @siennasinclaire_’s epic Beetlejuice-themed event with @pole.raven—such a vibe!
• Celebrated Halloween with Diodona’s family, which was a blast.
• Wrapped it up with my sisters @onelasturge & @symplyadri for some spooky fun—dead man’s toes included!

Big wins this month: I officially earned my LMFT license 🎉 But even more meaningful was stepping into the most beautiful art exhibit I’ve ever experienced—celebrating Black love, intimacy, and full self-expression. ALL ABOUT LOVE BY @mickalenethomas 🖤✨ It moved me deeply, inspiring me to reflect on where and how I need to show up artistically in my own life again.

For the longest time, I grieved over how the word therapy never fully resonated with me. While I see its immense value and how much it helps others, I’ve always felt that expressive art as therapy holds a stronger, more transformative power—for me.

This year has been about embracing that truth and stepping into a new perspective. Decolonizing therapy has shown me that healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. We can expand and redefine what it means to hold space for others, blending art, culture, and individuality into the work.

It’s been an empowering journey to finally know this: I don’t have to choose between being a therapist and an artist. I can be both. 💫

Here’s to redefining roles, reclaiming creativity, and honoring the art of healing in all its forms. 🎨🌿

August 2024: Fashioning My Shadow Work

This month, I found myself diving deeper into shadow work, with the ocean becoming my second home. My journey with tantra meditation naturally led me to the water element—a powerful force for clarity and renewal. The waves reminded me to wash away what no longer serves me and embrace the flow of life.

Exploring my astrology transits provided valuable insights into what’s to come. It’s amazing how the cosmos can act as a roadmap for self-awareness. It’s helped me to check myself before I wreck myself—and if I do wreck myself a little, that’s okay too, because I’ll always find ways to heal.

And speaking of wrecking… I couldn’t resist tearing down an abandoned sandcastle at the beach (Slide 2). Nearby kids thought it was hilarious and joined in, kicking it down with me. Sometimes destruction can be pure joy! 😂

Fashion inspo this month? Rihanna, of course, with her iconic leopard print vibes. She’s forever fab and fearless. 🐆😍

I also indulged my inner child with Sailor Moon-themed donuts from @moonbridgedoughnuts 🍩. Sharing them with my coworker, Kana, made it even sweeter. Pure joy wrapped in sugar!

Gym life became a priority, and I’m absolutely loving @clubstudiofitness! Their energizing classes, recovery room, and sauna have been a haven for my body and mind.

This month also reminded me of the power of rituals in maintaining mental health. I had a transformative consultation with @propheticsoulguideinc, exploring both inner and outer healing. It’s part of my journey to decolonize therapy and embrace the truth that healers come in many forms.

Another highlight was being invited by @ericacurrylmft to dive into Chinese medicine. I took a face reading class and later scheduled a reading. The insights into my 40s based on my nose were profound and uplifting. It’s inspiring to think about the future and how I can prepare myself now.

July 2025: A Month of Fashion Inspo, Cycles, Loss, and Renewal

This month, I found myself drawn to the fashion energies of the lion king & leopard print . 🐆✨

Yet, life brought its challenges. A lingering sickness left me homebound for weeks, staring out my window, confronting stillness, and reminding myself that a soul’s worth is not measured by productivity.

One of the most emotional milestones was our final improv performance of the year—and ever—at The Ledge Theatre. Being the only Black-owned improv theater in Los Angeles, its closure left a hole in the community and in our hearts. We performed with everything we had. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us or contributed financially. 😢

To find solace, I turned to the ocean. Healing through the element of water became my sanctuary, as the rhythmic waves mirrored the cycles I felt within myself.

This month also deepened my appreciation for true friendship. Spending time with Ferzee (@cannelacosmetictattoo) for some “lash life” and a luxury escape in the OC reminded me that the most real friendships are the ones that stand by you when you’re down. 💕

As a therapist, I’ve always understood emotional cycles intellectually, but this was the month I felt them—raw, shifting, and profound. Being sick recalibrated me, reminding me there’s always a way to connect back to self.

And to close the month with joy, I got to experience @therealdjmickey spinning an incredible set at @thelpn -a true blessing. 🎶✨

March 2024 Year in Review, Part 3 ✨

The receipts don’t lie (see slides).

As I lay low, doing internal work, working a whole lot (3 jobs), resting, using rituals, and completing my tantra homework, I was offered an opportunity to be an actress in a movie!

Ironically, a few days before this opportunity, I got a fortune cookie that said, “You could prosper in the field of entertainment!” I kept it next to my bed, wondering what it could mean and how it would happen. I didn’t realize how fast it would come!

My dear friend Rachel thought of me and connected me to her friend Kevin. I auditioned and got the job! I was OVERJOYED AND EXCITED for this opportunity! It felt unbelievable!

Things really manifest behind the scenes. I didn’t have to seek outside of myself. From within, so without. It’s funny to say this because, for me, I was conditioned to prove myself worthy, try hard, accomplish this and that, but I didn’t see results in a way that always felt fulfilling or exciting.

With grace, some things really can flow. You just have to be yourself and be open. The hustle culture never fashionably fit me, and that’s okay. This led me to slow down, grieve most of 2024 and process the unhealthy conditioning that was not mine to carry anymore, and take it easy. Most definitely counting my blessings.
